Screencast: Mini Project 1
During weeks 2 and 3, I was given the opportunity to create my first screencast, which is what I will be sharing with you below!
This project is presented under the scenario that a university is transitioning from one LMS to another, and as an instructional designer, I am tasked with redesigning an instructional activity to comply with new policies, practices, and procedures. To avoid copyright issues, this institution must produce all instructional videos internally.
This particular instructional activity is for the course Survey Design and Data Analysis, and must provide instruction for using the open source, statistical analysis software named JASP. It must guide students through how to use the software to complete an analysis on a provided data set to use in their Final Evaluation Report. I am provided information on what students are expected to produce, an overview of the data analysis process, and a link to the dataset they must use. I am also provided the guidelines I must meet for university standards.
I started by reading through all presented material, downloading JASP, and teaching myself how to use the software. I then planned out the steps I would need to present in order to complete the data analysis, and wrote a script for the video's dialog. Next I recorded a screencast of me performing the task, and went back through the video to narrate my actions. Last, I captioned the video to make it fully accessible.
